Confirmed Keynote Speakers
About the Event
This two-day networking and collaboration event will bring together researchers and clinicians interested in advancing the use of whole-room indirect calorimetry in metabolic research. The program will feature keynote lectures, interactive discussions, and opportunities to connect with peers across institutions and disciplines. This event aims to strengthen the international WRIC community, support early-career researchers, and facilitate scientific exchange around methodological, analytical, and collaborative aspects of whole-room indirect calorimetry.
Target Audience
The event is open to researchers working within human, translational and basic research, students and early-career investigators, data scientists, clinicians, technical specialists, and others interested in metabolic research and the use of WRIC. Whether you are already working with WRIC or simply curious about the possibilities, this event offers a chance to exchange ideas, connect with peers, and explore new collaborations.
Abstract Submission
We encourage all participants to submit an abstract describing their research. Submissions may reflect planned studies, work in progress, or completed projects. Please find the abstract template on the registration website, and upload the abstract as part of the registration. Participants may be considered for either a short oral presentation or a poster. Oral presentations will be selected with priority given to studies involving human research in whole-room indirect calorimetry. Please follow the formatting requirements specified in the abstract template found on the registration website.
Registration is required for all participants, including those not submitting an abstract.
Please note that the abstract submission deadline is Sunday, February 8, 2026 (end of day, CET). Notification of acceptance will be sent no later than Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Travel & Accommodation Support for Early-Career Researchers
Thanks to generous funding, we are able to offer travel and accommodation support for early-career researchers (PhD students and Postdocs) from outside Denmark. We will cover your hotel stay for up to three nights (25.02-28.02) and provide a travel stipend of up to 300€. Already registered participants are also welcome to apply.
To apply, please send an email to ninaz@ph.au.dk including:
- Your abstract
- A rough estimate of your travel costs
- Number of nights you would like to stay
- A short motivation explaining why attending this event is important for your research and career development
Our selection will prioritise early-career researchers who can demonstrate the most benefit from attending, taking into account your research (abstract) and motivation. For the sake of transparency, please note that we are currently unable to specify the number of participants we can support, as this will depend on factors such as travel costs, requested number of nights, and the overall event budget.
Please send your application before Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Travel Information
If you plan to fly, you have several convenient options for arriving in Aarhus:
- 🚄 By Train — Aarhus is well connected by Denmark’s national rail network, as well as to Germany. Direct trains from Copenhagen take about 3–3.5 hours and trains from Hamburg. Trains arrive at Aarhus Central Station in the city centre. For timetables and tickets please go to www.dsb.dk. Trains from or through Germany can be booked through Deutsche Bahn instead
-
✈️ Copenhagen Airport (CPH, Kastrup Airport) is the largest airport in Denmark. From there you have easy rail or bus access to Aarhus:
- 🚄 Direct train from Copenhagen Airport to Aarhus Central runs frequently and takes about 3 hours. For timetables and tickets please go to www.dsb.dk. Book early for discounted DSB Orange tickets (valid only for the selected departure).
- 🚌&⛴️ Direct long-distance buses run from Copenhagen Airport to Aarhus in about 4 hours. The bus drives onto a ferry, where you can get off the bus and walk around the ferry. Book via Kombardoexpressen.
- ✈️ Billund Airport (BLL) — from Billund there is a regular airport bus (route 912X) to Aarhus, taking about 50 minutes. For tickets and timetables go to www.midttrafik.dk.
- ✈️ Aarhus Airport (AAR) - a shuttle bus (route 925X) leaves just outside the arrival hall and brings you directly to Aarhus Central Station in ~45–50 minutes. Busses run in connection with flight arrivals, so you generally won’t need to wait long.
